Hadn't been to the last few Pov's show and it was great to see the show again. Thanks for "Hear About It Later" and proclaiming it for "me"...Thought we might have some announcement as to the Russ leaving story...that was the main reason I main an effort to attend this time, I didn't want to miss Russ' final Minnesota performance.
Webmasters, can we please get details on why he's leaving?
Thanks for the great time guys, hope to see you again soon!!!

Saw the show last night and it was awesome. It was a bit loud in there, but the place is sort of small. These guys play Van Halen as good or maybe better that the real VH. With so much talent and natural music ability, I wonder why they would rather spend a decade imitating a certain bands sound and recreating the past, as oppossed to creating thier very own music, but with that classic Van Halen type of sound. I am puzzled over this???? If they were to have taken this natural talent and started putting out albums 5 years ago, of new music but with a classic Van Halen sound to thier own music, they would all be multi-millionares by now, and would be playing arena's instead of Paladinos. I mean doesn't this make sense what I am saying ?? Why waste years , not to mention so much talent just being imitators of a great band that has long been finsihed. I am a big fan of the Punk's but I know that 98% of you all must agree with me. I would like and hope that the band read this remark and hope that Ralph or Russ would give some feed back on this . You guys should be working on your 4th album by now, and touring the world, maybe having Iron Maiden as an opening act for you by now. I have seen the Punks about 8 times over the years, and I have always scratched my head over this. This would be great if they were all 20 year olds. But they are not anymore. They have let a great chance and opportunity slip away with time, by not taking in to the highest level and letting the talent and creativity (with a 1981 Van Halen sound) that could have made the current generation of rockers think that these guys were the next Led Zeppelin of the modern era. Sure hope the band sees this.

I stumbled in to your gig at the Whisky around 1 am. I had just finished a gig in Bakersfield, and after getting to the LAX Hampton $50 later cabbed me to the Viper which sucked then some bar down the street where Bam Margera and Gene Simmons were doing shots. It was like some f'd up nightmare. Then some old huss (I think it was Heidi Fleiss?) was biting my arm asking for a white russian. I bought one - pushed it her way then bolted to get some Marlboro's (valid excuse, right?)
Well after chasing down my watery shite vodka tonic, struggling out the door through the outlaw crowd... I stumbled to the Whisky front door. Lo and behold kick ass 5150 riffs were oozing out of the door onto Sunset - and I inquired to the likes of you.
As my foot crosses the threshold, the lick begins... daaaaaa da dap dap daaaaaaa... da dap dada daaa dap dada daaa dap dada -- do be do wahhh... visions of the kid in the glasses at his desk, sweat dripping down his forehead -- the teacher's swelled breasts staring him in his four-eyes - beckoning him yet closer, as David Lee Roth jumps through the television set like the ultimate rock god he was.
I had arrived. My virgin 'Whisky'. Taken by the 'Punks.
I was pleased, albeit one of the security was an ass - but it was cool.
The sound was spectacular - kudos to the engineer. Yours or theirs?
The only shite thing about LA was that last call is 1:30. Bars in Nashvegas don't close 'til three so I hadn't even got my buzz on. Damn.
The tribute spectacle made it all worth while.
Oh and the guest guitarist you guys had up there was stellar. What was his name?

Ive seen about 50 tribute bands. the atomic punks are in the top 3 with the fab4 and wild child. they could be #1 Ralph sounds so much like Dave,it's scary. and doesn't talk through a lot of the verses (like dave did) I think it would be really cool if Ralph would take some of the sammy songs and rewrite the lyrics and melodies in a way that Dave might have. or just keep them the same and sing them like Dave would. I hope you play " In A Simple Rhyme" and "Women in Love next time.

I'm an ol' time fan of Van Halen. I used to check them out at the Whiskey-A-GoGo back in 1975-76. This was the first time I saw the Atomic Punks. They rocked Santa Clarita Valley -- for sure!
Ralph is a doll, he has an excellent voice and dances just like Dave. The one thing that's missing is Dave's ego. And to tell you the truth, that was one of the biggest turn offs for me when I used see them at the Whiskey. The missing ego was refreshing for me. As far as I'm concerned, Ralph kicked ass minus the huge ego...made him sexier than Dave.
The one and only turn off about last Saturday's gig was Russ wearing a wig. I saw the guys warming up...I was way impressed. But when it came time to start the actual concert, Russ came out sporting a wig -- I had to laugh! Dude, you play killer guitar and you're sexy just they way you are....you don't need that silly wig.
My vote: This band rocks and the guys are sexy as hell....just get rid of the wig(s).
Thanks for the memories,
Donna :o)

I'm a sophmore in high school, and met up with some people I saw that I knew, and was blown away. Ralph was awesome, he gave me several high fives, and called me Guns N' Roses boy (I was wearing a Guns N' Roses shirt). About 2/3rds of the way into the show, I tried to climb on stage, and some people I knew boosted me up onto the stage. Ralph was so cool about it. All he said was "How'd you get up here bro?" and grabbed me and put his arm around my shoulder. While the song was finishing, myself and some others that Ralph brought up, rocked out. When the song was over, they had the others leave the stage, and Ralph high fived me and asked my name. I told him, and he asked how many people liked Guns N' Roses. Ralph then asked if we knew Mr. Brownstone, and said "We do." They then began playing the song, and Ralph had me yell into the microphone, and then told me not to be nervous. Ralph and me then sang the verse about "That old man he's a real..." when we were singing it, Ralph looked at me and I looked at him. When the song went into the solo, Ralph told me to air guitar with him. After this, he helped me back down off the stage. It was seriously the coolest thing in the world.

WOW! - How cool it was to see Van Halen last night - I mean the Atomic Punks. My son and I went - exactly a year after seeing Van Hagar at AWA. Obviously - other than we got to see Eddie for perhaps the last time - this was waaay better. I agree with those who say this band sounds better than VH sounded back in the day - I saw them every year, at least once, and while it was the ultimate party and thrill - the quality of the song-playing was not as consistently good as the Punks (and "Diamond Dave" could NEVER sound that good for an entire concert - but he WAS the ULTIMATE front man)... btw I vote for "Take your whisky home" or "Romeo Delight" - since I can't think of any WACF material; of course "Cradle" would be great if it can be done - I only saw it live during that year's tour, never after that.
Thank you for showing the kids what the magic looked like back in 78-84 - and for the memories! Come back soon so I don't have to take all my son's kids on a road trip to LA! - Stay Safe! [also, why couldn't Eddie have taken Ralph back in '98? - even though Gary C. was ok live, and he got Eddie to play the old stuff like "Mean Streets" - sure wish he'd do it now, before it's too late!]

I just want to reiterate - it takes a lot of talent and energy to put on that kind of show. I'm glad that someone in Algonquin had the sense to book you guys. In the words of Jack Black , "Let's Get Rock'in".

You guys ROCKED! The best VH tribute band I have ever seen. The songs were killer, and I liked that you tried to look a bit like them. I think it only adds to the "show". My only critique is that I didn't feel that you should need to explain that you don't "think" you are VH. Everyone knows that and just do your thing and rock the place. Again - excellent show and excellent sound. Props to Russ - man you blew me away with your chops...
Best of luck and hope to catch you again soon!

Like always, it was an awesome friggin' show. It was also very cool bumping into Ralph, Scott, and Joe just walking around the festival beforehand. You guys are the coolest. The show was spectacular. I've seen you guys 50+ times, and I'm always impressed. Liked "Mr. Brownstone" too. Never been to one of your shows where there was that much crowd participation on stage. Unbelievable and extremely entertaining as all hell. My friends and I had a blast. Highlight for me..."DROP DEAD LEGS". Never heard you guys do that one before. AWESOME!!! Hope you guys come back to Illinois real soon.

It was fun especially when that guy wanted to pick a fight with you because you wouldn't play Hot for Teacher right away. I was the guy with the white backwards hat in the front if you remeber me. nailed 'em all. Folks, the guy screams as good as
Roth did on the LPs. And he's got the whole Roth act perfected, too. And Russ plays Eddie note for note, no change ups. You guys cranked man. I hope you will be back next year. Keep Rockin'

You guys were awesome. I honestly have to say, usually heavy metal isnt my thing, but seeing you on stage was incredible. The way you interacted with the crowd, just the music in general...My father just passed away less than a month ago, and almost all the songs that you played, were played to me as a young girl. My sister came with me, but was a little too young to remember. The one she did know was "Panama", and that brought back really awesome memories. Thanks...it realy means alot, because I miss my dad like crazy, and growing up with Van Halen I can understand and appreciate what you guys do. I wish you guys were out here more often! I got to the stadium fast as I could, and was surprised to find David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen up ontage!!! Obviously, it wasn't REALLY them, but one look gave me visions of Van Halen in their prime. Great show by the Punks. As mentioned earlier, the Punks set was cut short by the Club. You could tell Ralph & the guys would have played all night, but the Bar manager wasn't going for that. The did get a pretty late start around midnight. The 2nd band played a LONG time, several good Zeppelin covers, but I was there to see the Punks.
The Punks opened with SGMAD and then into Bottoms Up. They also played Jamie's Cryin, FYLT, Mean Street, Good times gone, YRGM, Pretty Women & Panama. Some local guy also got up and did JP-Breakin the Law.
Pretty dissapointing that they didn't have time for Unchained or Hot for Teacher. Maybe next time.

Man, that was the best show these guys have put on in San Diego ever. You could tell they were happy to be playing at a new venue. I'm glad they got away from that hole called Canes. It was a decent place, nothing against it but the HOB has a rep for bringing in top quality acts and this is exactly why the punks played here. Thanks guys, I don't mind paying a bit more for a better bar, a more friendly staff, and an awesome sound system...the light show kicks ass too. Russ, you are the most underrated player in the band. Amazing what you can do with Rush and Van Halen in the same night..impressive...same for the drummer (Scott?). See ya there next time with two more friends.

Canes was fine and all. It was major step up from the Bitter End. However, the House of Blues is a GREAT venue in terms of sound quality, crowd quality and girl quality. I still feel it took a while to dial in the sound but with "You Really Got Me" the band/sound board was firing on all cylinders. I wish though you would invite the girls onstage for the last song like you have done in the past. Me and the guys felt that was the master stroke to a fine evening.

By far, the Atomic Punks were at their highest point ever at this gig. It was the best performance I've seen yet but...
Go back to Cane's!! $19 for a ticket, $5 for a can of beer not to mention parking $10-25 is a bit steep. AND to end the show at 12:30 was highly disappointing for everyone there. We'd get at least 45 more minutes of music and antics at Cane's for a lot less $.
Yes, the lighting was great (I guess that's what we all paid for) and the sound wasn't all that great, mainly the fault of the HOB hall.
I'll have to really limit my times to see the Punks if they continue to go to HOB. I can't afford it.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO This show rocked the HOUSE!!! Ok I'll start off with... I heard about this concert a couple of weeks before it actually took place, so I wanted to see if my friend would go with me. (his first and only concert was Hilary Duff, lol) So we showed up at the Marquee at around 6:40... that was interesting. We were about the only people there besides the bartenders..so we waited around until about 7:50 and went to go get a spot for the first band.. We were on the left-ish side of the stage, up against the fence, and the first band came on.. These guys were here when I saw the Peacemakers, so I was used to their music. Still standing in the same spot, sometimes staying in both spots so one of us could go to the bathroom, the second band came on, which we thought was the best out of the 3 opening acts. Blah blah blah, after the 3rd band left, we saw them setting up the drums for the punks.. Some people to the right of us had left, so we were very close to center stage.. The show opened with Romeo Delight (correct me if I'm wrong), and it just got better from there. About halfway into the show, my friend got really into the music (just as I had been for the whole show), and we were sweatin and jumpin, just enjoying the hell out of some awesome classic VH. After the show was over, I bought 2 of the red XL shirts from Scott.. pretty funny shop setup, though =p.. Hold up your money and we'll get you a shirt.. All in all we stood for a solid about 5 hours, but it was worth it once the Punks came on. Excellent show, and good work! Peace, Sneaky.

Everything seemed "perfect" to me :) Fun to hear the song "Jump".......first time I've heard you guys play it. When Ralph yelled out "I see you" and gave me the hello sign I think he was talking to me. I waved back with a smile and shaking my head since my arms are paralyzed, otherwise I'd wave back. I didn't know Joe is from Alaska, as Ralph indicated. Cool, we'll have to go climb Mt. Denali sometime. All the best,

had me cracking up and I wasn't even drinking!!!
Sound wasn't that great and I sat right behind the console. At times Ralph's vocals were buried too much in the mix and it was a bit loud....and not in a good way either. My ears were ringing on the long drive home last night. I had earplugs but at first it didn't seem bad so i never put them in.

An absolute MUST see for any DLR era VH fan. Ralph signs the DLR songs the way Dave should have (he remembers the words)! As a guitar player myself, Russ' recreation of Ed's sound and lightning fast solos is beyond description. He has Ed's tone dialed in perfectly to match each of the DLR albums. The guitar solo spot was jaw dropping and there wasn't 1 note he missed when recreating "Eruption", "Mean Streets into", "Cathedral", and "Little Guitars". Don't miss them if you have the chance, especially if you grew up on DLR Van Halen playing air guitar in the mirror... You will have such a good time watching them.

Saw The Punks at a wedding reception and they were AWESOME! The music was great and the lead singer sounds more like DLR than DLR sounds today....And pretty much identical to prime DLR. They did a tremendous job of getting the audience involved and were just great performers. I highly reccomend seeing them if you get the chance.
Oh, they also played songs by other groups, including Poision and Motley Crue. "Shout at the Devil" sounded much better than when Vince Neil did it at the Crue concert I went to last week.
Great singer, great band. Great performers!

Talk to Rob, the sound guy. He's in charge of the volume. FWIW the last few shows Rob has had half the number of mains in the PA, so it sounds a bit harsh trying to fill the room.

I know, if it's too loud, you're too old BUT even the hard cores with me said their ears were ringing for two days after the show. You know I would do anything for you, but don't hurt me Baby. Bring down the volume just a tad and increase the pleasure. I had to practice safe rock and plug my ears a few times, and I prefer it raw. Drop it a notch and give it to me hard. I like it slappin off me, but I do't want to bleed. Don't stop, keep it comin', just change postion a touch.

Ever since seeing the Punks last year in Hawaii, I have been hooked. I always catch one of their shows here in Vegas. This past show I brought friends with me who got hooked too and vowed to come to the next shows. We even asured the people in line behind us that since this is their first time too that they will be returning fans too. After the show they were cheering and bought shirts and said they will see them again in an instant. You guys rock!!!!!

I am from outside Boston and have always wanted to check out the Atomic Punks. I was able to catch a show while in San Deigo. Simply awesome! Ralph you are a dead on Diamond Dave. Christ, Ralph you even duplicated Daves mistakes and side show antics. Russ simply amazing, I dont even think Eddie could do it better. Hope that you guys can make it to the Boston area someday. Until then I will be sure to organise my next west coast trip around one of your concerts. EVERYBODY WANT SOME MORE!

I'm from North Carolina and work in the sport of NASCAR, so I've been lucky enough to be out west when the Punks have played near NASCAR tracks. First time was in Phoenix at the track a couple of years ago, then at Sunset Station last weekend.
Great show, Ralph has the David Lee "screams" down cold. Russ is a very talented guitarist, but the wig needs a little work. The drummer and bass player are great, but I'd love to see the drummer use an Alex-style kit (either one with the black and white stripes, or the one with the "tubes" in the bass drum like he used on the "Diver Down" tour), and the bassist to use either the Jack Daniel's bass or the Explorer Michael used that looked like it had a big blood stain right in the middle of it (old Van Halen fans may know what I'm talking about).
I'd also love to hear them do "Romeo Delight" or "Hear About It Later."
I really enjoyed the show both times, though. Ralph is hilarious!
Oh, one other thing. Ralph, jump off the drum riser and do a mid-air split ala Roth one time.

Just got back from a long and grueling month long sales trip from Vegas. While I was staying at the Sunset Station, I saw a sign that was advertising the band. Gotta be honest here and say that I had never heard of the band before I saw the sign or actually saw them perform.
Let me just say that I was totally blown away from the experience that I had in watching the band. You guys were seriously fricking awesome and even though it wasn't open mic night at the improv.....Ralph....you seriously have a second job in stand up my man. The entire band is truly a great tribute to the original Van Halen and I am glad that you guys just seem to have fun on stage and try not to be so serious about what you are doing. You guys have a fan in me and I will definitely check you guys out again here in LA! Happy Trails Fellas, Happy Trails!
P.S. Russ.....nice playing my man, nice playing indeed!!!!

Once again another stellar show. I took a few newbees and they were suitably blown away! The "Thrash Serenade" was especially hysterical. Please upload some new tune-age and videos when you can. You may not notice it, but you guys have continued to progress significantly and it would be cool to have you share the current state-of-the-Punks for the rest of the world to enjoy!

Totally awesome times 4. The band was excellent and very cool. I really enjoyed when they got people from the audience up on the stage. That dude that stood in for the guitar for one song was the best thing I seen at a show in 20 years. He was worth the ticket price in itself. It brought back some great memories of my VH days in 1980. Keep Rockin AP's!

Good Lord the Punks blew me away yet again! I think the quote from David Lee Roth on KLSX really fired the band up because they brought they're A game Friday night. They started off with Romeo Delight and just never let up. I don't understand how I can see these guys at least once a month, yet I'm constantly being blown away. The coolest part about it is that the guys in the band are really really cool, down to earth people. Russ especially. He frickin' gave my friend the shirt off his back!!!! And it was an old school Van Halen 1 shirt too. So thanks again guys for what you do. It means the world to John and I. Also thanks to the Punks for letting me get on stage and SING UNCHAINED!!!!! THE WHOLE SONG!!! That was one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life. I'll never forget it. Rest up and we'll see you in a few weeks.

WOW, thats all I have to say about the Punks at Velvet Jones!! It was by far the best performance ever that Ive seen by these guys. And to add to the amazing show was a sick AC/DC tribute band called Dirty Deeds. God Damn that girl is hot!! Ralph was on top of his game with a kick ass set list. Every time I've seen the Punks they suprise me with their set list. Once again Russ shredded the solo and left us all begging for more.....thanks for the shirt Russ!! Keep rockin and we'll see you in LA next week.
